A 24-year-old Fort Wayne man on Tuesday pleaded guilty to murder during a change-of-plea hearing.

Joshua Parrish signed a plea agreement that calls for him to spend 50 years in prison.

If accepted by a judge, the deal would dismiss a separate charge of using a firearm to commit the crime.

Parrish is charged with the Dec. 6 fatal shooting of Antonio Cortez Harris, 31. The Allen County coroner°®¶¹app™s office ruled the death a homicide.

The defendant went to his sister°®¶¹app™s apartment at the Villa Capri Apartments on Fox Point Trail and °®¶¹appœstarted asking if everything was OK,°®¶¹app according to the probable cause affidavit.

Although his sister and Harris had been arguing, she told Parrish that everything was fine.

Parrish then allegedly asked the victim to walk outside with him to talk. His sister told police she saw Parrish holding a gun and begged him to believe there was nothing wrong.

But Parrish shot Harris multiple times about 8:30 p.m., she told police. Two of her children separately told police essentially the same story.

The woman, who had at least one child with Harris, said her brother then raised the gun toward her, which she perceived as a threat. Parrish then fled the scene, the affidavit said.

Parrish, who was arrested two days later during a traffic stop, claimed he hadn°®¶¹app™t seen his sister in a week. As for the night of the shooting, Parrish said °®¶¹appœhe can°®¶¹app™t remember what happened because his memory is bad from drinking a lot,°®¶¹app the court records say.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 6 before Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull.
