Fort Wayne Community Schools will share details about the planned $30 million Snider High School stadium during a community meeting next month, the district announced Monday.
The session will start at 6 p.m. Jan. 8 at the school, 4600 Fairlawn Pass. Attendees should enter through Door 4.
°®¶¹appThis meeting is an opportunity to share our plans, answer questions and show our commitment to being a good neighbor during the construction of the stadium at Snider High School,°®¶¹app district spokesman Scott Murray said by email.
The 4,000-seat stadium is among about $55 million in facility and equipment needs the district is financing through bonds. The school board advanced the projects °®¶¹app which also affect Grile Administrative Center, Helen P. Brown Natatorium, Amp Lab at Electric Works and the Wendy Y. Robinson Family and Community Engagement Center °®¶¹app in June.
The upcoming public meeting will feature a presentation about the construction plans, preliminary architectural renderings and details about traffic flow and parking management, a district news release said. Time will also be available for questions.
The estimated construction budget is $29.1 million. Architecture and engineering firm Barton Coe Vilamaa and Hagerman Group, a construction company, are attached to the project.
The board is expected to vote on bid packages Feb. 24, according to the district°®¶¹apps facilities projects bid schedule.
Officials have said the stadium is expected to be ready for the fall 2026 season and will feature a synthetic turf field and rubber running track. Along with football, the facility could host track, soccer and marching band events along with physical education activities.
Kurt Tippmann, Snider football coach, spoke favorably of the proposed stadium during a June public hearing. He told the board he didn°®¶¹appt know of another Indiana public high school that doesn°®¶¹appt play home games on-site.
Snider plays its home football games at Northrop°®¶¹apps Spuller Stadium.
