Fort Wayne°®¶¹app™s dining scene is set to welcome a new player with the opening of the city°®¶¹app™s first restaurant specializing in 100% Wagyu beef burgers.

The Wagyu Burger Shack, 3824 E. State Blvd., will host its grand opening at noon Oct. 18. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing its Wagyu cattle and produce locally.

The menu will include a variety of Wagyu burger options including the Amish John Classic, Wagyu Bacon lover and King Wagyu.

Wagyu, a breed of cattle originating from Japan, is known for its intense marbling and rich flavor, often commanding premium prices in the culinary world.

Junk Ditch closes Huntington location

Junk Ditch Brewing Co. announced the closure of its Huntington tap room, citing a decision to refocus efforts on its Fort Wayne location and other services.

In a social media post, the company expressed gratitude to the staff and patrons who contributed to the Huntington location°®¶¹app™s success.

The brewery will now concentrate on its Fort Wayne establishment, food truck operations and catering program.

Warsaw career center restaurant opens

The Warsaw Area Career Center has opened Blue Apron, a student-operated restaurant.

The restaurant, which serves as a hands-on learning experience for WACC culinary students, will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

Blue Apron°®¶¹app™s menu features dishes such as the Cubano sandwich and hand-breaded pork tenderloin. Weekly specials and scratch-made soups, including the popular loaded baked potato soup, round out the offerings. Dessert options include crème brûlée and rotating cheesecake flavors.

The restaurant provides WACC culinary students with real-world experience in all aspects of restaurant management, from meal preparation to customer service. Under expert guidance, students develop skills essential for future careers in the culinary arts.

No reservations are required, but seating is limited. The restaurant is located at the Warsaw Area Career Center, 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw.

Corned beef on rye

Congregation Achduth Vesholom is set to host its 22nd annual corned beef on rye fundraiser.

The event will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at the temple, 5200 Old Mill Road. Pre-order pickup begins at 10 a.m.

For $18, participants can enjoy a boxed meal featuring a 1/3-pound corned beef on rye sandwich, pickle, coleslaw, brownie and drink. The price increases to $21 after Oct. 25 and for door sales.

This year°®¶¹app™s event will be walk-up service only, with multiple pickup stations available. The temple°®¶¹app™s parking lot will accommodate on-site visitors.

For orders of 12 or more lunches, delivery is available for a $15 fee per local address. Delivery orders must be paid by Oct. 25.
